Privacy
Museek has no accounts. It never asks for your name, your email address or anything else that identifies you, and there is nothing here to log in to.
What is stored on your device
- A player identifier — a random number in a cookie called
museek_pid, kept for 400 days. It exists so that one round per person per day can be counted for the “found by X%” figures and the score comparison. It is not linked to anything else and is not shared. - Your round in progress and your record — stored in your browser’s local storage so that a refresh does not lose your game, and so that your streak survives between days. This never leaves your device.
Both are functional: without them the game cannot keep your place. Clearing your site data removes them, and takes your streak with them.
What is stored on our servers
When you finish a round we record one row containing:
- the random player identifier above;
- the round’s date, your total score and which try you found each song on;
- the two-letter country our host derives from your IP address. We do not receive or store the IP address itself.
This is what produces the percentile and the per-song statistics. The database is hosted by Supabase in Paris, France (eu-west-3).
Third parties
- Apple. Song previews and cover art are fetched by your browser directly from Apple’s servers rather than through ours. That request tells Apple your IP address and browser, exactly as visiting an Apple page would. See Apple’s privacy policy.
- Vercel hosts the site and provides aggregate traffic analytics that use no cookies and build no cross-site profile.
There is currently no advertising on Museek and no advertising or analytics cookies are set. If that changes, this page changes with it and EEA visitors will be asked for consent first.
How long it is kept
Play records are kept while the game runs, because they are what the statistics are calculated from. They contain no identifier that can be traced back to a person once your cookie is gone.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask what is held about you, and ask for it to be erased. Because the only key is the random identifier in your own cookie, we need you to send it: it is the value of museek_pid in your browser’s cookie storage. Write to contact@museek.io and we will remove the matching rows. You can also simply clear your site data, which deletes the identifier and leaves the remaining row anonymous.
Changes
This page is dated by its content: if the list of third parties above changes, so does the behaviour of the site. See also the terms.
