Museek

How to play

Museek gives you five songs a day. Everyone in the world gets the same five, and a new round arrives at your own midnight.

A song, five tries

Each song starts as a snippet of 0.2 seconds — about the length of a blink. Press Play to hear it. Every try you spend buys you a longer snippet:

Artist or title

Both boxes are open at once. On every try you can name the artist, name the title, or skip. A wrong guess and a skip each cost you one of your five tries — so skipping on the fifth gives up the song, and it is revealed.

Naming the artist correctly costs you nothing: it banks the points, the snippet does not grow, and every remaining try is still yours to find the title. Naming the title ends the song.

Scoring

The earlier you get it, the more it is worth. The title is always worth more than the artist.

A song is worth at most 1000 points and a round at most 5000. Going straight for the title is always the best possible play: banking the artist and then naming the title on the same snippet scores 800, less than the 1000 you would have had for naming the title outright. The artist is the safe play — it costs no try and guarantees you something — not the greedy one.

Spelling

Typos are forgiven. Accents, apostrophes, capitals and small misspellings all pass, and you never need to type the bracketed part of a title — “Uptown Funk” is accepted for “Uptown Funk (feat. Bruno Mars)”. Any credited performer counts as the artist.

The suggestions under the field are there to help you spell, not to narrow the answer: titles are searched by title only, so typing an artist’s name will never list their songs.

Sharing

At the end you get a grid of coloured squares showing when you got each song, with no titles in it. It gives nothing away, so you can post it before your friends have played.
