Museek

Questions

Where do the songs come from?

The 30-second previews are Apple’s, streamed straight from Apple’s servers to your browser. We never host or store the audio. Every song you finish shows a link to hear it in full on Apple Music.

How are the five songs chosen?

From published charts, not from anyone’s taste, and all of it from 2000 on — Museek plays this century only. A song enters the pool if it appeared in a Billboard year-end Hot 100 from 2000 to today or has held a place in a current top 100 for a week. Rounds are built ahead of time so that no artist repeats within a fortnight, no song repeats within a year, and a round is never five songs out of the same decade. See About for the full method.

Nothing plays. What is wrong?

On an iPhone, check the ring/silent switch on the side of the phone — with it set to silent, browsers mute audio. Otherwise it is usually a blocked autoplay setting or an extension blocking third-party media; try tapping Play once more, or another browser.

When does the next round arrive?

At your own local midnight. Everyone plays the same five songs on the same calendar date, so a friend in another timezone may be a few hours ahead of you or behind.

Do I need an account?

No, and there is not one to make. Your streak and your scores live in your own browser, which means clearing your site data or switching device resets them.

Can I play a round I missed?

Not for score, but every finished round is listed with its answers in the archive.

I am sure my answer was right.

Typos, accents and punctuation are all forgiven, and any credited performer counts as the artist — but a different recording of the same song is a different answer, and a cover is not the original. If you think something is genuinely wrong, tell us and include the date.

The share grid — does it spoil anything?

No. It shows only which try you got each song on, never which songs they were, so it is safe to post before anyone else has played.
